Re: John Wooden's Pyramid of Success

Thanks for the lecture link.

The book I've got is Coach Wooden's Leadership Game Plan for Success. Covers the Pyramid and a number of other areas as well. Some great stuff in it

Re: John Wooden's Pyramid of Success

There are some amazing books about and by John Wooden. All are worth a read - an amazing coach and teacher.

I've only ever been able to find one video of him:

Well worth a watch.

Re: 2-Man Game

Can leave you exposed on the break but you can mitigate this with a double invert. Get your shorties playing behind and it makes it a lot harder for them to break (unless they've got really athletic and offensively minded poles) Other benefit of this is that poles tend to be quicker to slide to shor...

Re: 2-Man Game

With all the above in mind I want to look at a (from behind) 2-4-0 offence. Two behind playing a two man game, looking to create separation with on-ball picks; two guys on the crease doing everything described above with no off-ball, sloughed in, D men to worry about and two guys on the wings. Wing ...

Re: 2-Man Game

We have a two man set at Steelers. I don't want to give too much away to our opponents but it's originally titled Two Man so shouldn't be too hard to spot! It's less of a focus this season as we have some excellent dodgers and feel we can generate quality shots out of dodge, pass, pass re-dodge offe...

Re: Zone vs 1-4-1

The England zone in the World Championships was a basic box with a backer in the middle and an additional 'floating' player who picked up anyone else on the perimeter. The zone was designed that way as the box shape is suitable against a lot of offensive sets and enabled us, with only minor movement...

Re: Lincoln City Lacrosse Club

Sheffield Steelers would definitely be up for some friendlies and we're reasonably local. I'll drop you an email.

The plan is for this now to be a rolling programme year on year. The age groups of U15 and U17 have been chosen as they are 4 and 2 years behind the U19 age group giving us an excellent lead into the World Championships. The U19s then feed into the seniors and hopefully, as the structure becomes est...

Nige Gates played at Nottingham in goal a few years ago.

He was a helicopter pilot in the RAF at the time and I assume he still is.

Has anyone from Nottingham got contact details as I'm sure he'd be interested in getting involved with a services team?

The U19 league, which the National Squads fully support, runs from November to January. It's not possible for us to stop training and scrimmaging for 3 months. We'd be miles behind in our preparation. Obviously during the season we can't train on a Saturday so Sunday is the only other option. We've ...

I can confirm that clashes are far from ideal but are unfortunately unavoidable. Thanks for the words of support Nikon. When coaching the senior team I made an open offer to this forum to answer any questions people might have about the national squads. I'm happy to make the same offer with the U19s...
