England v Maryland

I went down to watch the game and witnessed a very tired England play against the Terps. They were 10 down inside of 12 minutes and the toll of five straight days of games was plain to see. They did however show how improved they were as a group in terms of fitness and strength - at no point were th...

Hi All, I am going to throw together a series of short pieces to cover any and all events that took place since we last did an LT, up until the beginning of this month. If you want to review something let me know and we can stick it in the upcoming magazine. You can review anything you want as long ...

I welcome any comments... just glad that people read the magazine when its finished. Apologies to anyone who feels left out - its a reflection of how much stronger we are contentwise than a few years ago. After deciding what we wanted to cover, what we had coverage of and where the great pictures we...

Flags Final

(Enters Minefield) For those who don't already know I am a Wilmslow member... I can understand the tension growing around this debate, but also want to eliminate the beginnings of some Chinese whispers. Wilmslow appealed the ruling to move the Flags weekend dates. The Flags weekend has not been move...

IFWLA v NCAA

If and/or when the NCAA redraws the men's stick rules, I would be astonished if the ILF, or whatever it is at the time, does not simply move to comply - as there is no way that the US Manufacturers will diversify their product range to include a small relatively unprofitable market. Of course there ...

NCAA v IFWLA

I am familiar with the rule differences - although remember that the Americans play with a smaller fan so the marking area is smaller. I also think that it still gives the American athletes an advantage in international competition - the advanced sticks used domestically allow athletes to develop te...

Women's Sticks

Can someone tell me the rationale for the IFWLA making a ruling on sticks that contravenes NCAA regulations - where the vast majority of womens players actually play (and the standard of play is at its highest)? Even if the chronology is backward - i.e. the NCAA have ruled in favor of of more agress...

ELA Stats/Results

Guys,

This is probably my fault, but I have updated the orginal week 3 score to reflect the result - that is also where the requisite stats need to be entered... I wonder if they were done?

Are we agreed that we are all up to speed?

Winding Up

There is really no precedent for a defender "leaving" a shooter because he is in the act of shooting - otherwise you would have attackers simply walking toward the goal in a contiuous wind up! Accidental screens are part of the game - remember most defences ask the defender to send the bal...

ELA v Forum

While do doubt certain members of the ELA might find this, and any other, forum to be "crap" (thats just generational nonsense...) the ELA supports the forum in the most important way - i.e. every month Jimmy gets a check from Head Office to ensure the forum's continued existence. I wouldn...

Easy Sam...

Team Stats will be in place by the end of next week - but no defensive stats this year... we can't get to that level of detail yet.

Duke reinstatment

It is an intersting situation - the NCAA are caught between a rock and a hard place, but in my opinion they have caved on this one. They didn't cancel the Duke season, the university administration did. The rule allowing for the retroactive "red shirt" only applies to athletes who have pla...

Stalling...

Nope... a deflection doesn't cut it - if the ball leaves the offensive box while the stall call is on then the only team that can legally touch the ball is the defensive team, so until they have gained possession, unless the ball is deflected back into the box, the offensive side has to actually avo...

Stalling...

Yes - I think so... I can't see how that would be a foul there or here. I never seen it happen... (EDIT - Now I think about this the answer to your question is no. You are not allowed to touch the ball at all once its out of the offensive box. If the defensive team cocks up and kicks the ball back i...
