Re: Box lax in Fareham

I'd like to qualify. 10-11pm on a week night is challenging but do-able. Are you aware that the Soton lads are looking at Sunday evening sessions?

Re: Issues with availability of referees

It's true that there aren't enough unaffiliated referees. Making qualified players ref an occasional game can only be part of the solution to the shortage of referees, we need a cadre of people who are willing to ref every week. One thing we need to do in order to achieve this is to make refereeing ...

Jsgi
The number of panel refs who aren't affiliated to a club is at least 100% bigger than you think.

Soton v Bath result above is accurate. Seven different scorers for Southampton.
Plymouth beat Southampton "A" 8-5 as memory serves me.

Re: Stick Checks

Deliberately committing a technical foul to gain advantage can be unsportsmanlike conduct which is a personal foul. If a player deployed an illegal stick knowing that there could be no stick check then that would be the call.

Re: SEMLA Fixtures, Promotion, Relegation etc

It saves on hassle if you make a clear written agreement. Try using these words. We will not claim a walkover so long as you agree to play the reverse fixture for double points. If you can't play the reverse fixture, we will claim the points for both fixtures. If we can't play, the points will be di...

Re: Box lax in Fareham

I'm a field lacrosse ref based in Portsmouth. Most of the local players are students playing field lacrosse. Southampton has a non-student side and there is a youth side in the Waterlooville area. The field lacrosse season runs October through April and you may struggle to find many players who want...

Re: Face Off: Ball in back of stick --

The rule states If the ball becomes caught in any part of a player’s stick, then the player is with-holding the ball from play. There is no specific rule for the face off and there is no rule which says you can only carry the ball in the front of the stick. A ref will be trying to see whether the ba...

Re: Mesh Colours

In the English game, mesh comes in brown or grey (at least after a couple of games). So do balls (if not lost before being used for more than an hour).

Re: Crease Violation & Goalie Interference

That would be a legal push. A cross check is delivered with the part of the stick between the hands. The rules do not stipulate that a push must be two handed, just that it not be in the back, above the shoulder or below the hip.

Re: Crease Violation & Goalie Interference

Strictly speaking, hold when the player has the ball and interference when he's trying to get it. But no, it doesn't matter. A cross check is committed when a player uses the stick between his gloved hands to make a check. So if the initial contact is with hands and they aren't far apart then the fa...

I concur. However, if you haven't whistled before the opponent picks up the stick then you have simultaneous fouls.

Re: Silly Season question

Simultaneous technical fouls. Attacker is witholding the ball from play, defender is interfering with an opponent's equipment. Whistle to stop play and restart with a face, the ball having been loose.

Re: Crease Violation & Goalie Interference

Lifting another players stick or gloved hand holding the stick with your own stick is legal. Lifting the elbow is a hold or interference (but very hard to spot).
